How to tell if you have fake solar eclipse glasses

(CNN) – We’re now just days away from the total eclipse of the sun on April 8.

If you plan to watch the rare celestial event, listen up: fake eclipse glasses are hitting the market.

So here’s how to tell if your glasses are real or fake.

Some glasses with sunglass-like lenses that have straight left and right edges are fake.

Meanwhile, real eclipse glasses have reflective lenses with curved left and right edges.

According to the American Astronomical Society, the counterfeit glasses may be hard to spot because they have text and original artwork that makes them appear real.

To make sure you’re not getting a fake pair of eclipse glasses, you can check the list of safe manufacturers and resellers on American Astronomical Society’s website.

The organization recommends you buy only form sites you can reach by clicking the links on that list.

You can find it at eclipse.aas.org.
