Hospitals brace for coronavirus
(KSNV) Three tents have now been set up outside emergency rooms at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Two are in the parking lot by the adult emergency room.
The third smaller one is near the entrance of the children’s E.R., all intended to handle a surge of patients, in the event the coronavirus might suddenly spread across Southern Nevada.
”As we think about both the coronavirus and this year being a very busy flu season, we need to be prepared for a surge of patients where we see a lot of people with similar symptoms,” said Dr. Jeffrey Murawsky, Chief Medical Officer at Sunrise Hospital. “We need to be able to triage and sort those folks, and do some initial screening. An outside tent, well ventilated, low infection risk, you’re able to space people several feet apart. That is a great way to do that.”
Murawsky said the hospital is following CDC protocols based on previous outbreaks.
