MORGANTOWN, Ky. – A Madisonville man faces criminal charges after allegedly fleeing police on a stolen motorcycle Monday afternoon.

According to a uniform citation, a Kentucky State Police trooper was driving northbound on Interstate 165 when a motorcycle without a license plate was observed.

The trooper says a traffic stop was conducted and the operator of the motorcycle pulled over but then drove off.

A pursuit went between Butler and Warren Counties, where the operator of the motorcycle took two Butler County exits and then exited back onto Interstate 165 each time, according to the citation.

The trooper says several vehicles stopped quickly to avoid crashing into the motorcycle and the operator drove through a roadway work zone.

The citation states that the pursuit continued to the Butler County and Ohio County line, where the operator of the motorcycle attempted to go around an Ohio County deputy by driving into the median.

The motorcycle became “stuck,” and 45-year-old Brent McPhall, of Madisonville, was taken into custody.

McPhall allegedly told law enforcement that he fled them because he had a traffic warrant.

Law enforcement says McPhall did not have a warrant for his arrest

The citation states that the VIN on the motorcycle was processed and determined to be stolen out of Indiana.

McPhall told officers his brother gave him the motorcycle.

McPhall is charged with no registration receipt, no registration plates, disregarding a stop sign (work zone), reckless driving (work zone), first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), receiving stolen property $10,000 or more and operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license.

McPhall was lodged at the Butler County Jail.
