Hope Harbor hosts free bystander intervention training

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – There were more than 39,000 reports of domestic violence in Kentucky in 2024 alone.

To help address the issue, Hope Harbor hosted a free bystander intervention training in South Central Kentucky.

The program focused on helping community members recognize the warning signs of power-based personal violence and learn safe ways to intervene.

Organizers say the training is designed to help reduce violence against men, women, and children through education and community awareness.

Katii Tanaro, a community educator with Hope Harbor, says,  “We see a lot of things, you know, on the news about different forms of violence that go on around here and everywhere in the United States, everywhere in the world. I think it’s really important to be able to give people the tools to do something about it, instead of just feeling like disempowered.”

If you missed the training today, you can find resources for all ages on Hope Harbor’s website.
