Historical church marker to be dedicated in Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-A new historical marker will be dedicated in Bowling Green this weekend. The Kentucky Historical Society will unveil the marker at Pioneer Cemetery on Sunday.

It commemorates the original location of The Presbyterian Church, which is currently on State Street.

The Church is celebrating it’s 200th year in Bowling Green. It once served as a hospital during the civil war, and as an all women’s academy.

The church’s historian and organist said the marker is significant for both the Bowling Green community and the church.

“It marks for the city of Bowling Green and for the church and early existence, and the fact that it’s been a history of development,” said Tom Moody.

The dedication of the marker will take place at 2 pm on Sunday.
