Hilltopper baseball fans hold NCAA Regional watch party
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – While the WKU Baseball team took the field in Oxford, Miss. for its first NCAA Regional appearance since 2009, a group of Hilltopper fans who were unable to make the trip showed their support right here at home in Bowling Green, hosting a watch party at Mister B’s Pizza & Wings for the matchup with Georgia Tech.
This group has been cheering on the team at Nick Denes Field all season long, and this support has also been the case on the Hill in prior years.
A few fans who have enjoyed this year’s success spoke at the watch party.
“ It’s been very exciting. I happen to have three of the players in classes this past semester, so of course I’ve been here rooting on my former students as well,” said Robin Ayers, a current WKU mathematics professor and former member of Lady Topper basketball. “To see their growth has been absolutely phenomenal. Despite the cold weather, despite the rain, it’s still been enjoyable to watch the team and support them all through the season.”
“They come in, they play until the last out, the last strike, all the way down to the bottom of the game,” said Dana Earheart, who has supported the Tops for over 20 years. “They don’t ever give up. They’re always in this game and they probably are the best team that I’ve seen since I’ve been watching.”
