Hilltop History & Haunts takes over WKU’s campus this September & October
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – As September begins, spooky season is officially here, and one unique way to celebrate is a haunted tour of Western Kentucky University’s campus.
Dr. Tamela Smith, a paranormal researcher, has been investigating some of the campus’s mysteries, like a construction worker haunting Van Meter Hall, or a professor roaming Cherry Hall.
The tours focus on the top of the hill, exploring not if WKU is haunted, but why.
Dr. Smith also shared stories about the bridge behind Van Meter Hall and its connection to the Civil War.
“We’re standing near the Old Fort and there’s been reports of Civil War soldiers spirits walking through here… and we know it was a fort, was occupied by both sides but there was never any battles here. So why are their spirits still lingering? But we’ll talk about that,” Dr. Smith says.
Tours take place every Friday, Saturday and Monday night starting at 7, but you must register online in advance.
The tour is approximately 90 minutes, with no stairs involved and places to sit throughout.
It costs $22.50 per person, and you can register at spookysmith.com.
