Highway crews prepare for winter weather storm system in District 3

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Residents and those planning to travel through Kentucky should remain aware of incoming winter weather.
State highway crews in every county within District 3 are preparing for another round of winter weather.
The U.S. National Weather Service Louisville has placed every county in District 3 under a Winter Storm Warning from 6 p.m. tonight through Noon Wednesday. The NWS predicts three to six inches of snow to hit the area.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, crews started anti-icing operations Monday and Tuesday.
Officials say snow is expected to move into the district beginning in the western counties around 6 p.m. Crews will be reporting in at various times in each county and deploy when necessary.
Hazardous driving conditions are expected to begin early tonight through Wednesday. Heavier snowfall is expected to start after midnight, officials say.
KYTC says morning commutes on Wednesday are expected to be impacted by this weather system.
Drivers who must travel should allow for extra time to reach their destination, use slower speeds and give plenty of space between vehicles.
Crews are still also working flooded roads after five to six inches of rain swept into some areas. The current road closure list can be found here.
Officials are requesting the public to not call 911 or law enforcement to find out information about road conditions.
