Med Center EMS gives tips on preventing heat exhaustion

As the days ahead are heating up… There’s some things you should keep in mind to stay safe.

A few symptoms of heat exhaustion are headaches, nausea, and sweating profusely. Taking breaks inside and hydrating is a good way to ease these symptoms.

If your symptoms worsen and you stop sweating completely, it’s recommended to call 911 because you may be having a heat stoke.

There’s many things you can do to be prepared for the upcoming heat.

Kimmy Rheaume, EMS PR coordinator, says “The main thing to keep in mind is to stay well hydrated. Plan your hydration, don’t wait until you’re thirsty.”

If you normally do cardio outside, you should do it early or later in the day. If you work outside, be sure to take plenty of breaks.
