Haunted attractions you can visit this Halloween season

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- If you are seeking a thrill and maybe a little scare this Halloween season, there are a few haunted houses in the area to check out.

The Kentucky Grand Hotel is transforming into “The Haunted Hotel” for the first time, starting Oct. 19 through Halloween night.

Bride-to-be Jessica Spears was supposed to have her wedding on Halloween night in 2017 at The Kentucky Grand Hotel, but she was killed in a car accident alongside her five bridesmaids returning from the bachelorette party.

General manager of The Kentucky Grand Hotel, Ali Zia, says it is all about Jessica and her car accident. “Unfortunately, she couldn’t have her wedding here at the hotel, but those spirits come back every Halloween, so that’s the theme of our Haunted Hotel.”

Legend has it that Jessica and her bridesmaids return to the hotel each Halloween to prepare for the wedding, and this year, the story is coming to life.

Zia says, “This idea has been in the works for about a year, and we thought it’d be a great way for people to come out and actually do something in the downtown area.”

Tickets and information can be found on the website at derbystage.com.

Another Haunted House in the area is attracting the community for the 24th season, bringing something for everyone to enjoy. Skeleton’s Lair Scream Park has it all, featuring haunted woods, a haunted hayride, a 3-D building and a doll factory.

Co-owner of Skeleton’s Lair, Amy Burge, tells WNKY, “Each year we try to keep building on it, and people this year have really seemed to have a great time.” One ticket for the Scream Park includes access to all four attractions.

If you visit Skeleton’s Lair this weekend, you will get to see a special appearance from actor, Tyler Mane.

Burge says, “We have Tyler Mane as our special guest, and we have celebrity guests each season. Tyler will be with us this weekend, and he was Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s Halloween, back in 2007 and 2009, so he is going to be a very popular guest this year.”

This Scream Park attraction will be open through Nov. 4. More information on a location and tickets can be found on the website at skeletonslair.com.
