Hart Co. High School teacher resigns from position amid investigation

MUNFORDVILLE, Ky. – A Hart County High School teacher has resigned during an investigation into alleged misconduct.
According to assistant superintendent of Hart County Schools Bo Chenoweth, on behalf of superintendent Smith, Hart County Schools can confirm that Makayla Qualls is no longer employed by the district.
Chenoweth stated Qualls submitted her resignation effective Dec. 3.
In November, WNKY News 40 partner The Hart County News-Herald stated Qualls was suspended with pay.
Chenoweth previously shared the following statement:
“Hart County Schools can confirm that information was shared with our local sheriff regarding allegations of misconduct concerning a teacher for the school system. After receiving that report from the sheriff, superintendent Smith suspended the teacher with pay in accordance with board policy while the District conducted its investigation. At this time, the investigation is still ongoing, so the district has no further comment.”
