Habitat For Humanity homes for 2021 tornado victims nearing completion
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – After nearly five years of planning, Habitat for Humanity is nearing the finish line on new homes for families affected by the December 2021 tornadoes.
Construction began in August of 2025, and six Bowling Green families are now close to moving in.
The project is funded by $900,000 in Team Kentucky disaster recovery money, along with generous community donations.
Despite setbacks, including the heavy rain last spring and the recent snow storms, the homes are now nearing completion. Habitat for Humanity says the wait has been worth it to give these families a place to call home.
“We’re so excited to get these families who’ve worked patiently with us to get them to this point. And, you know, the crux of our work is when we get to hand the keys to a new homeowner, and they get to go in their home and begin to make that the foundation for the rest of their life,” said Rodney Goodman, the executive director at Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity is eyeing late March for the homes to be finished and ready for the families to move in.
