Guthrie announces winners of Congressional Art Competition

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Rep. Brett Guthrie has announced the winners of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition from Kentucky’s second district.

The art competition reception was hosted at the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Center on April 22.

Guthrie and other participating members of the U.S. House of Representatives host the Congressional Art Competition each spring in their respective districts for high school students.

An independent panel of local art educators chose the winners for this competition with the exception of the “Facebook Favorite” winner, which is determined by the public by voting on Facebook.

Meade County High School student Lavender Vessels won overall first place with, “Captive to Technology,” and her artwork will be featured in the U.S. Capitol with other winning artworks from U.S. congressional districts and territories.

The following students placed in the competition:

First place overall:

Second place overall:

“Preparing for the Derby” Liam McDonald, South Warren Middle School.

Third place overall:

“Rascal” Dakota Kirchner, Nelson County High School.

Overall honorable mentions:
