Guardians of The Children chapter speaks on Child Abuse Prevention Month

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – National nonprofit organization Guardians of The Children is a group of largely motorcyclists that advocate for children’s safety, and April is a month close to their hearts across the country.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Vette City chapter just put out their blue pinwheels to stir up conversation around such a big topic in Kentucky. Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASA, reports that Kentucky is estimated to be third in the country for reported child abuse cases, hitting 16,347 in 2023.

News 40 spoke to the vice president of the chapter, who goes by his road name, Doc. He said that child abuse has lasting effects, and victims often need years of support, which is what they as an organization try their best to do.

The idea behind the organization founded in 2006 was to give kids friends and allies who look scarier than those who abused them.
