GRREC receives more than $700,000 to improve school safety

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Green River Regional Education Cooperative has just received over $700,000 to enhance school safety.

GRREC has been awarded a $787,369 grant from the Department of Homeland Security to launch a new initiative called REPELS, which stands for Risk Elimination and Prevention for Expanded Layers of Safety.

It aims to address school safety issues across 11 districts.

The new program will help implement an anti-violence school program that will tackle chronic absenteeism, bullying and violent incidents while expanding behavioral threat assessment and management teams.
