Gov. Andy Beshear celebrates economic investment in Glasgow

GLASGOW, Ky. – Gov. Andy Beshear traveled all across south-central Kentucky, making several stops on Tuesday, including one at the T.J. Pavilion Community Center in Glasgow to celebrate a massive achievement for both the county and the state.

Tate, a company that specializes in data center products, is making an investment of over $60 million to set up its largest facility around the globe.

This has been a common sight around the state, with many companies recognizing the economic potential of Kentucky. Beshear says that it’s the hustle from leaders and the hard work of Kentuckians that has made the state so attractive.

“As a state we have now had since I became governor, our first, second, third and fifth best years in our history. And we’re out there hustling, knowing we’ve got to work harder, we’ve got to invest more. We’ve got to be smarter than all of these other states if we want to get the very best investments. We’ve also got the best people. When I can bring somebody to a community like Glasgow, when they can meet the people around them, when they can see the KTC, when they can go to the to the CTE program in the high school. We have got so much to offer. And right now Kentucky is top of mind,” Beshear said.

That hard work and local community was one of the many reasons why Tate decided on Glasgow for their facility.

“The bigger picture was the the intangibles, right? So meeting with the local community, what they had to offer and then also just the local talent, that we could see was was going to be available to, to make the plant actually operate,” said Brad Campbell, vice president of engineering for Tate.

The facility will stand around 746,000 square feet and is expected to bring around 400 full time jobs to the area. The investment also marks the largest investment Barren County has seen in about two decades. A timeline is currently not known for when work will begin, but Tate says they are looking to hire and start work as soon as possible.
