Glasgow’s Police Chief looks back on career ahead of retirement
GLASGOW, Ky.- We’re learning more about the Glasgow Police Chief’s decision to retire from law enforcement.
On Monday Chief Guy Howie announced his plans to retire, after nearly 40 years working as a police officer.
Thursday, he told WNKY that his final day will be June 20th. He has been chief in Glasgow since 2015.
Chief Howie also elaborated on his decision to retire. Previously he stated that he wanted to spend more time with family. He said in an interview with WNKY that he’s also motivated to get out while he’s still ahead. He mentioned that a lot of people nearing retirement start to burn out.
“I still enjoy coming to work. I still enjoy the people that I work with. I want to go out on that same level. You know it’s time to retire and it’s time to go, you start losing your effectiveness,” said Howie.
Howie also said that looking back on his career, he wishes he could have solved the case of Dee Scofield, a young girl who went missing in Florida in the late 70s.
