Glasgow police to conduct traffic safety checkpoints throughout August

GLASGOW, Ky. – If you are a regular driver in Glasgow, you may want to pay attention and slow down.

The Glasgow Police Department says it will be taking extra precautions to ensure the roads are safer.

Traffic safety checkpoints will be set up at various locations through Aug. 31 within city limits. Police say these will include but not be limited to Columbia Avenue West Main Street, North Jackson Highway and Happy Valley Road.

Police say during checkpoints, they will enforce laws related to operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, licensing of motor vehicles and operators, registration and insurance violations, seat belt and child restraint violations and motor vehicle equipment violations.

Checkpoints are used throughout Kentucky to promote highway safety.
