Glasgow man in custody after negotiations with police

GLASGOW, Ky. – Glasgow authorities responded Tuesday morning for a barricaded and armed subject on Happy Valley Road.

At 9:15am, law enforcement responded to a call at Storage Sense on Happy Valley Road in reference to a male subject inside the office area with a firearm.

Upon arrival, officers located a female running out of the building and were able to make contact. Officers also observed a male subject inside the building holding a firearm.

Officers instructed the male subject to drop the firearm and exit the building. A negotiation with the male subject was conducted before the Barren County Tactical Team entered the building and took the man into custody without further incident.

The firearm was entered as a stolen weapon.

The male subject has been identified as Christopher L. Safford, Glasgow.

Safford is charged with Possession Of Handgun By Convicted Felon, Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.

Sgt. Mason Wethington is the arresting officer.

Glasgow Police were assisted by Barren County Sheriff’s Office and members of the Barren County Tactical Team.
