Glasgow man charged with fleeing police in vehicle

GLASGOW, Ky. – A Glasgow man is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing police in a vehicle.
According to a uniform citation, the Glasgow Police Department observed a vehicle traveling west on New Bowling Road at a high rate of speed and crossing over the center line Tuesday night.
Authorities say they attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle, which reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour for about five miles outside of city limits.
Police say they lost visual and terminated the pursuit. However, authorities say the vehicle returned within city limits at a high speed and turned onto a dead end road on Carroll Knicely Drive.
At this time, police say the driver, later identified as 38-year-old Owen Crain of Glasgow, ran to a wooded area.
Crain was located and detained.
Authorities say he smelled strongly of alcoholic beverages.
He was transported to T.J. Samson Community Hospital for a blood draw before being lodged at the Barren County Detention Center. He faces charges of speeding 20 mph over the limit, reckless driving, first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), third-degree fleeing or evading police, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, first offense, and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle prohibited.
