Getting the kids involved, City of Bowling Green rolls out Riverfront park
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Today at Briarwood Elementary, Bowling Green’s Neighborhood & Community Services paid a visit to the STEAM class.
NCS came by to introduce kids to one of the biggest projects in Bowling Green right now, the development of the riverfront in downtown Bowling Green. 8 years ago, it was just an idea but now the groundbreaking is creeping up slowly but surely.
So far, just a little over 3 million dollars is going toward making an adventure park on the river thanks to grants the city has received and with the hope for construction to start in 2025, the city wants to build the hype. Today they let some lucky fourth graders take a crack at envisioning the new park and offer up some ideas for what might go on the riverfront.
News 40 spoke to NCS Director Brent Childers, who said “when you think about it, parks are centered around children and families… this is their park” when asked why visit schools with the idea.
Childers said they’ll be making more stops at local schools to get more of the younger community excited about the future.
