Franklin-Simpson’s Cason Groves signs to play football at Cumberland University
FRANKLIN, Ky. – Over at Franklin-Simpson High School on Friday, one Wildcat signed his national letter of intent to continue his football career in college.
Cason Groves spent three seasons playing at the varsity level for the Wildcats, and after a stellar senior year, the wide receiver will be heading to Tennessee to join the Cumberland University football team.
Groves started his Wildcat career as a defensive player until finding his true calling in the 2024 season when the senior racked up a total of 343 receiving yards and recorded four receiving touchdowns as well.
At his signing ceremony, the future Pheonix spoke on his emotions to be continuing his football career at the collegiate level.
“I’m pretty excited,” Groves said. “Definitely ready to get up there, work with some of the coaches, and get ready during the summer. As soon as they send out the workout plan, just getting straight to it and taking no breaks, and I’m just excited.
