Franklin Police Department hosting mother-daughter self-defense class

FRANKLIN, Ky. – The Franklin Police Department is holding its second self-defense class now and already starting sign-ups for its third and final class in November.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, eight mother-daughter teams will meet up at the department to learn how to defend themselves against attackers should the situation ever arise.

News 40 spoke to major John Thompson with FPD, who said the department will shoot for three classes a year but might rethink the program depending on community input.

This upcoming class is full, capping off at 16 people per class, but Thompson said they’re already ready for November with the next group being senior citizens.
