Fort Campbell soldier charged with murder of pregnant wife

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. – A Fort Campbell soldier charged with the murder of his pregnant wife will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Sgt. 1st Class Joseph Santiago was charged with the murder of his wife, Meghan, in 2021.

Santiago was found guilty Tuesday during a military court martial trial at Fort Campbell.

Santiago was also found guilty of harming their unborn child and was dishonorably discharged.

The child did survive Meghan’s death.

Officials say the couple has other children, but the exact number has not been confirmed.

Overall, Santiago is sentenced to life in prison with potential for parole, plus an additional six months for harming the couple’s unborn child.
