Former WKU Football Stars to Hold Inaugural Youth Camps

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – With many Topper sports ending their seasons, camp time is in full swing, and a pair of former Hilltopper stars are getting ready to host their inaugural two-day event in just over a month.

Offensive Lineman Forrest Lamp and Quarterback Brandon Doughty are holding their “Inside the Huddle” camps on July 12 and 13.
The Friday night session is geared towards high schoolers looking to better their skills, and the Saturday morning session will be for grades 1-8 with a little less focus on competition and more focus on having fun.
Lamp recently shared more on what sort of impact the camp is looking to have for future Tops.

“We want these camps to be fun. You know, we want the older kids to leave, you know, with more knowledge than they came in with,” Lamp said. “Like I said, more tools in their toolbox and, hey, maybe this will work for me. I’m going to try this at practice next week, but the younger kids, we want them to leave having fun.”

“We want them to go home with their mom and dad and say, I had so much fun. I can’t wait to do this again next year. You know what I mean? That’s what we want people to do. We love Bowling Green. We love the community. We want it to be a community event every single year that just continues to grow where people look forward to it,” he said.

Each session will have a limit of 150 kids, due to the construction currently underway on the new Hilltopper press box and fieldhouse, and if you want your child to participate, make sure to sign up online at www.huddlecamp.com/sign up.
And phenomenal WKU Quarterback Brandon Doughty spoke about what he’s hoping the participants get out of the inaugural camp.
“They see, you know what everybody does on Saturday and Sunday, but they don’t really understand what goes into that process and what things that they’re doing to create habits so that Saturday, they’re just playing football and not thinking,” Doughty said. “I’m excited about this. I’m excited about this opportunity. I’m excited about hooking up with Forrest and seeing his stuff. We’re really, really excited about doing this and we’re so excited about giving back to the Bowling Green community that means so much to us.”
