Food distribution to be held in Barren County on Tuesday

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Several organizations are stepping up to fight against food insecurity in south central Kentucky.

On Tuesday, Oct. 22, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Medicare in Kentucky and Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland are hosting a food distribution event as part of the “Serving Up Fresh” Program.

Launched in 2019, the Serving Up Fresh Program ensures local families have access to fresh, nutritious food despite rising grocery prices.

This initiative addresses nutrition gaps, especially during non-growing seasons when fresh produce is less affordable.

Fresh fruits, vegetables and pantry staples will be distributed to nearly 500 families.
