Flooding Continues to Impact Simpson County, Roads Remain Impassable

FRANKLIN, Ky. – Flooding remains a major issue in Simpson County on Monday, with several roads still underwater and businesses seeing water reach their doorsteps. Areas like Hoy Park in Franklin are completely submerged as the community deals with the aftermath of heavy rainfall over the weekend.

Simpson County Judge Executive Mason Barnes shared insight into the situation, explaining how quickly the flooding developed.

“Like much of the areas around us, we were inundated with rain Friday night into Saturday, and the water started coming up pretty rapidly. We had a lot of flooding issues in various places all over the county. It’s affected several homes with floodwater, and countless roadways are impassable—some still impassable today,” Barnes said.

Emergency management officials are urging residents to stay cautious. Simpson County Emergency Management Director Robert Palmer advised the community to heed road closure warnings.

“Going forward from here, we ask the community to pay attention to the orange barrels in the roadway. If they’re there, they’re there to stop you from going into a place where you could have problems,” Palmer said.

Residents are encouraged to stay updated on road conditions and avoid flooded areas until the water recedes.
