First Watch opens its doors on Labor Day

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The doors of a new business are opening on Labor Day.

First Watch, a food chain originally founded in California, has been expanding business to many other markets and now has made its way to Bowling Green.

“This is our first restaurant in Bowling Green. As we continue to grow, we’re focused on bringing First Watch to communities where we see long-term opportunity,” said Ricky Flynn, the general manager of First Watch that will be opening on Scottsville Road Sept. 7.

 He said creating the dream team to serve the community was an easy yet challenging process.

“I think it’s almost like opening a new restaurant is almost like a roller coaster. You kind of train and you’re along the ride for people, and then there’s also a huge ‘you first’ mentality at First Watch where we put our team members first, and it puts them in a position to put the guests first,” Flynn said.

The restaurant displays a flare of Bowling Greens immaculate Corvette culture with designs by local artists along the walls. The spot seats over 150 people and has over 30 staff members.

“They do pride themselves on trying to be as local as possible,” he said.

He hopes locals catch a bite at the new joint and enjoy an atmosphere of comradery.

“I’m a people person at heart. I want to get out and meet people and make regulars. I want to know about their dogs. I want to know about their cats. I want to know about their kids and what they have going on and soon as this location opens, I have the opportunity to do that again,” Flynn said.

On Labor Day, the new staff will be working hard to serve, one table, one family and one person at a time.

“The more people that we can impact or tough in those opening days will be huge to the long-term success of the restaurant. I think we have a really good shot at having a really special place,” he said.

Monday, First Watch opens its doors at 7 a.m. and closes at 2:30 p.m., Sunday through Friday.
