FEMA approves $2.4M for repairs to Warren RECC

FRANKFORT, Ky. – A Bowling Green electric company has been approved by FEMA for more than $2.4 million for repairs.

According to a release by FEMA, the funding is for damaged property resulting after severe storms, flooding and tornadoes that occurred from Dec. 10-11 in 2021.

During this time, FEMA says the tornado outbreak caused extensive damage to Warren RECC’s components jurisdiction wide. This included electrical poles, transformers, conductors, miscellaneous anchors, wires and related hardware.

FEMA approved $450,509 for workers with regular hours and overtime, $84,159 for equipment, $640,220 for materials and $1,512,460 for contract and mutual aid for the repairs to the power distribution system of Warren RECC to restore the facility to its pre-disaster design, function and capacity, the release states.

FEMA Public Assistance is a cost-sharing program. Due to the amount of damage caused by this storm, President Joe Biden authorized a cost share reimbursement of 90% federal funding for this project.

All work and costs took place between Dec. 11, 2021 to March 22, 2022.
