Family Enrichment Center kicks off 30th annual Run & Walk for Children
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Family Enrichment Center officially launched its 30th annual Run and Walk for Children on Tuesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at German American Bank.
The annual event, first created in 1996, serves as the organization’s kickoff to National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April. The fundraiser supports the center’s mission to empower families and prevent child abuse through education, social support, crisis intervention and safe environments for children.
Organizers also introduced this year’s race ambassadors, who will help raise awareness and promote the event throughout the community.
“We always kick this event off for April, which is Child Abuse Prevention Month,” said Nickie Jones, executive director of the Family Enrichment Center. “It’s an opportunity to share the message that everybody can do something to prevent child abuse. It’s been humbling to see the outpouring of support from our community, and it’s continued over the years.”
This year’s Run and Walk for Children is scheduled for March 27-28. Events include a half marathon, 5K run, fun walk, children’s race and a pre-race pasta party.
More information about registration and volunteer opportunities is available on the Family Enrichment Center’s website.
