Family Demands Justice In Louisiana Teen’s Death

Quawan "Bobby" Charles' family say police didn't do enough to find the Louisiana teen when he was reported missing, and question the explanation they were given after his dead body was found. KLAF's Patsy Douglas reports.

(KLAF/NBC News) — A Louisiana family is demanding answers after the horrific death of 15-year-old Quawan “Bobby” Charles.

Charles left his father’s house on October 30th around 3:00 o’clock. His mother called his phone later that afternoon, but wasn’t able to reach him. They later reported him missing to the Baldwin Police Department.

“According to the family, they did not feel that the law enforcement officials took their please serious enough, given the fact that they had a missing child,” says Ron Haley, an attorney now representing the family.

Four days later Charles’ body was found in a sugar cane field near near Loreauville. His face showed signs of serious trauma.

No arrests have been made, and the coroner has not released any information to the family.

A spokesperson for the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains a top priority, and that full autopsy results could take six to eight weeks.

In the meantime, the family has commissioned an independent autopsy as well.
