Experience the Barrens: 8th Grade Career Expo helps students explore future

BARREN COUNTY, Ky.- Barren Inc. recently gave over 700 local eighth graders from different schools the opportunity to “Experience the Barrens,” an event designed to introduce students to various career paths.

This hands-on experience allowed them to explore careers they may have never considered and gave them a head start in preparing for their futures.

Caleb Deckard, an eighth grader from Barren County Middle School, shared, “It feels pretty good to know that there are multiple options out there, and we definitely get to go explore them.”

The event showcases career and college opportunities, helping students understand the diverse paths they can pursue after graduation.

Carson Wilson, also an eighth grader at Barren County Middle School, added, “It’s really fun. I like all the opportunities that we get, that way we can actually get the experience when we’re younger and really have the time to think about what we love.”

Whether you are interested in the medical field or manufacturing, many students found joy in learning about different professions, gaining more confidence about their future careers. Barren Inc.’s initiative has helped these young students envision the possibilities ahead of them, setting them up for success.
