EMTs speak on potential delays in ambulatory services
SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY – Not for lack of urgency or training, ambulances could arrive later than usual after more impactful weather blows through the area on Friday.
News 40 spoke to Terry Atwood, a paramedic with Allen County Ambulance Services, who said though people might think ambulances would fare well in the snow, that isn’t always the case. The ACAS has purchased a four-wheel drive ambulance but for the time being, they’re in the same boat as anyone else until it arrives.
Med Center EMS’s Advanced EMT Field Supervisor Stephen Parrott told News 40 they are without more snow capable rigs as well but will be putting on studded wheels in preparation for the weekend. With snow looking to be heavy on Friday, Parrott and Atwood said to prepare for a slower response time if an emergency does occur.
