Elected leaders from 10 counties attend budget workshop
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – County officials from across the 10-county Barren River Area Development District region that includes Warren and surrounding counties met Thursday at the BRADD office to learn about budgeting, state audits and other issues related to county government.
The primary purpose for the session was to help elected officials navigate the budgeting process, said Rich Ornstein, attorney for the Kentucky Association of Counties.
Thursday’s meeting was planned to help elected officials learn what the state expects of them ahead of the July 1 start of fiscal year.
During the Department of Local Goverment’s budget workshop about 65 county officials attended to learn some of the skills necessary to performing their elected duties.
Most of the attendees were newly-elected officials.
This regional workshop saves local officials’ time and the public’s tax dollars because they can obtain that training here rather than having to travel to Frankfort to obtain training hours.
