SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – On Thursday night, you can make a difference for survivors of domestic violence.

A Domestic Violence Awareness Event is accepting donations at 5:15 p.m. at the Allen County Circuit Court at 200 W. Main St. in Scottsville.

On Wednesday, Gov. Andy Beshear signed a proclamation designating October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month. First lady Britainy Beshear said in Kentucky, over 45% of women and 35% of men face “intimate partner violence” within their lifetimes.

You can help by bringing soap, deodorant, cosmetics, cookware, dishes, silverware, paper towels, toilet paper, tissues and more.

If you want to donate, you can bring supplies to the vigil or drop them off in a box on the porch of Allen County Florist Inc. at 301 N. Court St. through the end of October.
