Director of elementary instruction named for Barren County Schools

BARREN COUNTY, Ky. – Michael Davis has been named Director of Elementary Instruction for Barren County Schools.

Davis has been an educator and administrator in Barren County Schools since 2006, according to a release by the district.

Barren County Schools says he served as a teacher at Eastern Elementary, assistant principal at Barren County Middle, principal at Red Cross Elementary and principal at Barren County Middle School. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his new role as director of elementary instruction.

Michael graduated from Barren County High School in 2001 and earned his bachelor of science degree in exceptional education from Western Kentucky University in 2006. In 2012, he earned a master’s degree in schooladministration, also from Western Kentucky University. Michael completed his Rank I supervisor of instruction from University of the Cumberlands in 2021.

Amy Irwin, superintendent of Barren County Schools stated, “With his extensive experience and commitment to excellence, we are confident that Michael will support and foster an environment of academic excellence. He is committed to educational innovation and will continue to move our district forward.”

Davis said, “I am excited about stepping into this new role. Barren County Schools has a strong tradition of providing innovative, high-quality instruction. I am committed to supporting our administrators and staff as they work to support the academic success of each child they serve.

Davis will start in his new position on July 22.
