Director of child care facility charged in child abuse and endangerment case

SIMPSON COUNTY, Ky. – A man and woman have been charged in relation to an abuse case in Simpson County.
Johnathon Jenkins, 30, and Morgan Soper, 28, have been charged with 89 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, 89 counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of second-degree criminal abuse of a minor 12 years old or younger.
Simpson County deputies say they responded Thursday to Springfield Road and found a 4-year-old child locked in a bedroom alone.
Authorities say they learned the parents of the child have left the child alone during the day for “quite some time.”
Soper is the director of a child care center in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, according to officials.
Both remain at the Simpson County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond.
Both are scheduled for court on Thursday, Oct. 26.
