FRANKFROT, Ky. – The director of the Butler County Animal Shelter received recognition at the Kentucky Animal Welfare Summit in Frankfort.
Director Ruby Fooks was given the Unsung Hero award.
According to a social media post by Friends of Butler County Animals, the group is proud of what she has accomplished and how far the shelter has come because of her efforts.
“All of her tireless days and sleepless nights to save as many as she can has finally been rewarded,” the post stated.
In 2022, the group says the shelter took in 379 cats, 432 dogs, two gerbils and one hamster, with even higher numbers of cats and dogs in the year following.
