Simpson County deputy shot, subject dead after search in Allen County

ADOLPHUS, Ky. – Authorities have released more information about a search in Allen County for a suspect allegedly involved in an officer-involved shooting.
In a release Sunday by the Kentucky State Police, authorities say an officer-involved shooting happened around 5:10 p.m. on New Buck Creek Road while officials attempted to find a suspect involved in a vehicle pursuit.
Troopers say the pursuit began in Simpson County around 12:30 a.m. Saturday before ending near New Buck Creek Road.
Multiple agencies continued to search for the suspect, Jeremy Rollenhagen, 37, for most of the day Saturday in that area.
A male subject has since been pronounced dead at the scene.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Office stated Saturday afternoon that Rollenhagen had shot at a Simpson County deputy during the pursuit. That deputy was not injured at that time.
KSP says a Simpson County deputy was taken to the hospital after sustaining life-threatening injuries Saturday evening and is in stable condition.
The identity of that deputy has not been released.
In a statement posted to social media, Simpson County judge-executive Mason Barnes stated the pursuit involved an individual that allegedly kidnapped a woman in Bowling Green.
“The pursuit went through Simpson County into Allen County. The person being pursued fired shots at officers but has been located and the pursuit is over. Unfortunately, one of our Simpson County deputies was injured. He is stable and being treated at a hospital. Please pray for him,” Barnes says.
In a statement shared to social media Monday, the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office says chief deputy Brad Harper “was shot while trying to arrest a subject for attempted murder. The sheriff’s office says it appreciates the continued support and that any further comments and releases will come from KSP.
KSP assisted the Simpson County Sheriff’s Office in the search and is continuing the investigation.
