Deer on the move in Kentucky, officials urge caution and give tips
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Deer are mating in Kentucky from October to January, and accidents during this time naturally increase due to all of their activity.
There are hundreds of thousands of deer in the Bluegrass state, and as they search for mates and food, occasionally they will cross the road. When that happens, unfortunately, accidents can occur.
News 40 spoke to the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife about how to stay safe this deer season and acquired some good tips.
Public information officer Cody Fox told us that it’s recommended to brake as much as you can and not swerve. Fox also told News 40 that if you happen to strike a deer, you are encouraged to take it home, just call local law enforcement after the incident.
