Community remembers Romanza Johnson as she is laid to rest

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Bowling Green laid to rest a legend today.

Romanza Johnson died last week, and the city gathered Wednesday morning to celebrate her life.

The 84-year-old was a pillar of the community, volunteering and serving with a generous number of nonprofits. Many of the lives she touched gathered at Eastwood Baptist Church to share their memories of her.

Johnson was born in Scottsville and moved to Bowling Green to attend Western Kentucky University, where she studied home economics. She taught at Scottsville High School and WKU before accepting a job at Bowling Green Municipal Utilities. She will surely be missed.
