Community Action of Southern Kentucky is helping people pay their energy bill
BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- As temperatures start to drop, many people turn up the heat at home, which can often mean costly energy bills. Not everyone can afford the cost of staying warm during the colder months.
Community Action of Southern Kentucky is offering assistance to those who can’t afford to pay their energy bills.
Starting November 4th, eligible low income Kentuckians who live in the 10 BRAAD Counties will be able to apply for that assistance.
The amount that a household will receive will be based on the level of poverty and type of fuel used for heating.
New this year, Atmos Energy is partnering with Community Action to help those in need pay their gas bill, past due debt and other service charges.
According to the director of Community Services at Community Action, these programs help those in need avoid having to choose between feeding themselves and staying warm.
The Atmos Energy Assistance Program will start on November 1st, and to be eligible you must be an Atmos Energy residential customer.
