Comer holds Town Hall in Allen County

SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. – Congressman James Comer hosted a Town Hall Meeting in the Allen County Fiscal Court Room Thursday.

The meeting was open to the public where community members were able to ask the congressman questions.

Comer said Town Halls are a great display of democracy and he was glad to have held around 50 meetings in his two and a half years in office.

The Monroe County native said South Central Kentucky is his home which is why local opinions matter to him.

“We’ve cut taxes with the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.  We’ve removed regulations that affected of lot of industries like agriculture with waters of the U.S. or banking with Dodd Frank to help community bankers loan money again. Everything we do is to try to make life better for people in South Central Kentucky and get the government off their backs,” said Rep. James Comer.

With a booming farming community in Allen County, Congress can have a direct effect on the farming industry.

“James Comer is definitely pro-ag. There’s tariffs being put on soybeans and with taxes being put on soybeans, James Comer is there for us. He’s there supporting those farmers that are there in their fields growing these soybeans and corn,” said Dennis Harper, Allen County Judge Executive.

Comer also gave a brief Washington update stating that he hopes a bipartisan bill will allow transparency in medical billing.
