Code Enforcement in Bowling Green, “the rules are for everyone”

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Code Enforcement & Animal Control division of the city is an important part of local government and while it may seem arbitrary, the branch is there to serve the whole city fairly.

Brad Schargorodski said “when we write a fine, it’s not to be mean… a lot of what we do is community standards…” today when asked about how code compliance works in tandem with the citizenry. The division manager said ordinances take into consideration a lot of input from the community, “it’s not just my department saying ‘no you can’t do this anymore'”.

Schargorodski said there are of course many instances in where they work with people before giving out citations, but when it comes to public safety, things you might think are arbitrary can lead to a host of problems.
