City of Glasgow to get new judicial center
GLASGOW, Ky. – Glasgow is getting a new judicial center, and some demolition work is just weeks away.
Right now, the project is still in the design phase but is expected to have modern technology and security, with 56,000 square feet across three floors, according to Tommy Gumm, founder and chairman of the Board of Alliance Corporations in Glasgow.
The project will be split into several phases available for bidding, Gumm says. The anticipated bid date for the rest of the project will be in the fall.
“We’re going to try to do as much as we can to invest in our local individuals here that do work to get them to be a part of it,” Barren County judge-executive Jamie Byrd says. “We’re going to make sure that they know. We’re going to break it up as much as we can so that people can bid on parts of this project and and really make sure we invest more into our community. And I do think this will be a beautiful site.”
Demolition is expected to start on two buildings, including a nearby Dollar General store, according to Byrd. Road closures will also continue on Ford Drive and a section of West Water Street.
