City of Bowling Green to hold open house to gather information on flood zones

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The City of Bowling Green is looking for your help on a project that will help prevent flooding in a part of town that was impacted by the December 2021 tornadoes.

On Thursday, November 14th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Jennings Creek Elementary School library, the city is holding an open house to get information on flood zones in the area of Whispering Hills Boulevard.

They’re looking for any photos or evidence of flooding in this area to try and re-evaluate the areas to better protect from future floods.

“The public can help us by showing us what that flooding actually looks like… We can use those data points to kinda record how that flooding works in the area of town, and that’ll help us understand how to measure and how to model what the flood plan should be and what those maps should look like,” Grants Coordinator Jake Moore says.

If you aren’t able to attend the open house, there’s still a way to get your information to the city.

You can send any photos or info you may have to jlashlee@contactcei.com.
