City of Bowling Green pulls residents out of floodzones
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The City of Bowling Green has been exploring many options since the prolonged storm that caused damaging floods in April 2025, one of which has been home purchases.
Just recently, the city purchased three homes sold by citizens who have had a history of flooding issues. Public Works director Andy Souza said this has been a voluntary process to help assist those flood victims with insurmountable damage, as well as prevent future issues.
One homeowner, Marshall Beach, lost a great deal in the flood, saying he and his wife had to buy risers for furniture to save what they could as the flood waters began to enter their home.
When they came back to their house after spending a few days away at Mrs. Beach’s mother’s house, and then with their own daughter, they found several inches of water and a couple of feet in the lower portion of the home.
Beach said the city came through at a great time, and he as well as his wife say they feel very blessed.
