City of Bowling Green celebrates Public Works Week
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The men and women behind the operations, upkeep of city buildings, stormwater management and so much more are celebrating National Public Works Week.
The Bowling Green Public Works has five divisions – the Facilities Division, the Operations Division, the Fleet Division, the Environmental Compliance Division and The Planning and Design Divisions.
Bowling Green is the only city within the state of Kentucky to be accredited by the American Public Works Association, meaning they are working under the best standards set forth by the Association.
Lizette Garcia, administrative assistant at Bowling Green Public Works, says, “We have professionals that come in and they review all of our policies, our standards, our practices and every four years we come out at the top, and it just goes to show that we are spending citizen tax dollars in the best possible way.”
On Wednesday, the Board of Commissioners issued a proclamation to recognize and celebrate Public Works Week in Bowling Green, aligning with National Public Works Week.
