Child advocacy center receives donation

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – A local child advocacy center is thanking a donor for money that will help fund a new program.

Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center received a $2,100 donation from Lil Angel’s Attic, a longtime supporter of the center.

The advocacy center works with children who have been victims of abuse.

The center offers therapy, counseling and also assists police interviewing the victims.

The donated funds will go toward the center’s new R.O.A.R. program.

“I have a little lion here that’s named Rex and Rex is finding his ROAR and so I’m teaching kids about body safety and speaking up when they feel uncomfortable,” said Anna D’Herde, Community Outreach Coordinator of BRACAC.

The program focuses on teaching children to R – remember their privates are private, O – OK to say no, A – always talk about secrets and R – raise your voice and tell someone.
