Charles Booker visits downtown Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.-U.S. Senate hopeful Democrat Charles Booker was making his rounds in Bowling Green Monday.

He met with the Warren County Democratic Women’s Club at the Warren County Public Library downtown where he is discussing his campaign to unseat Republican Senator Rand Paul.

“A big part of my campaign is coming to communities that often get taken for granted but are critical to our Commonwealth’s future but Bowling Green’s a true example of that,” said Booker.

Booker also spoke on some of the broader societal topics of our nation, including the recent Supreme Court confirmation of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson…

“On this vote, the yea’s are 53, the nays are 47, and this nomination is confirmed,” said Vice President Kamala Harris.

Sen. Paul was not allowed to vote on the Senate floor because he was not wearing a tie.

“I’m not spending a lot of time nor is the president on the dress code of Rand Paul today, we’re thinking about the historic confirmation of an imminently qualified black woman to serve on the Supreme Court, not really worried about his khakis,” said White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

According to officials, Paul also delayed the vote by half an hour.

“We have in our U.S. Supreme Court, a history where there’s never been someone who looks like my mom to have the chance to seem valid enough to serve in the highest court of the land. Now that we’ve broken that ceiling, Rand Paul was the only person to delay it,” said Booker.

News 40 also asked Booker his thoughts on the travel mask mandate that is set to expire in just a week.

“First of all we are all frustrated and tired of dealing with the pandemic. That doesn’t mean we don’t take it seriously, that means we have the leadership in place to get us through this thing,” said Booker.

The primary election is May 17th.
